Campbell Hatton Offers Heartfelt Ode to His Late Parent
The boxing legend’s son Campbell expressed an emotional tribute via his first public words following his father’s death.
Expressions of sympathy have poured in from across the sports world and beyond in the wake of the death of the one-time world welterweight titleholder, that was found at his home on Sunday morning at the young age of 46.
“Words can’t express how I feel,” wrote his son beneath a set of family photos.
“People always remarked I looked like your double – not a truer word uttered. I admired you in each aspect of life.”
He continued: “It’s impossible to describe how much I’m going to miss the jokes we shared and every one of the good moments, that I will remember always. Just can’t fathom we can no longer have more together. I love you, Dad.”
Area authorities stated that the boxing icon had been found at his home situated in Greater Manchester. The department emphasized that there were not any suspicious factors involved in the event.
In a path similar to his parent, Campbell also embarked on a profession in boxing, making his professional debut in 2021. He later retired from the industry earlier this year.
On Monday, the relatives of Hatton issued a message conveying that they were “greatly comforted” by the generous outpouring of love and condolences shown their way.
“Richard was so much more than a sports figure. To us, he was only ‘Richard,’ our child. A loving parent, elder, and family member, and a loyal confidant to countless people,” the message stated.
“He possessed a soul as big as his smile, and his generosity, wit, and dedication touched everyone lucky enough to know him.
“To the rest of the world, Hatton will forever be remembered as one of boxing’s top figures – a man who gave his all within the fights and displayed his emotions on his publicly.”
