Arteta Hails a More Dependable Team and Reveals Havertz Setback.

Mikel Arteta has expressed confidence that his squad can keep managing with fitness issues following revealing that forward Kai Havertz is not ready for a few more weeks.

Prolonged Recovery for Havertz

The Germany international has been sidelined since the summer after undergoing an operation on his knee. Initially expected to come back sooner, the manager stated the player encountered a problem when stepping up his training and could not progress “the next phase.”

“Our experience helped us build a squad that is considerably steadier and has greater depth,” stated the manager.

Tactical Decisions for Midweek Fixture

This update leaves a dilemma for Wednesday’s home game against Brentford. Arteta must choose between sticking with Mikel Merino, who got a goal as a makeshift striker on Sunday, or bringing back Viktor Gyökeres, who made a return from a muscle injury in the latter stages. Long-term absentee Gabriel Jesus is an option following a lengthy absence.

Fitness Doubts Persist

Additional concerns involve defender William Saliba and winger Leandro Trossard, who sat out the Chelsea match. Consequently, new recruits Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié are likely to continue in the heart of the defence for the league leaders.

The manager is convinced the £250m spend on new players during the summer has left Arsenal in a far better place to deal with such absences.

Squad Depth Vital for Title Challenge

Questioned if more options was helping their championship push, the manager agreed. “Indeed, because this season has been worse in some areas, and now the situation with the defence,” he added.

“History has shown us that we need to utilize players in various roles, and they need to be prepared to fulfil different roles if we want to compete at this level. And the example of Mikel Merino.”

Manager’s Sympathy for Frustrated Star

Addressing the setback noted by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta offered more insight. “He was doing everything. He was unable to progress to the next level and now it’s looking like we have unlocked that.”

The manager conveyed his eagerness to welcome him back. “Everyone is eager to have him. I mean, Havertz is someone that, in my view, I admire greatly for what he brings to the team, but his personality, his personality. I see him suffer being outside.”

“His availability record is phenomenal, he's rarely been injured, and I look forward to have him back involved playing because I believe it’s going to be a massive boost.”
