The head of the Justice Department, the Attorney General, confirmed the prosecutor's departure on the start of the week. In a statement that the judicial decision made it impossible for her to lead the department effectively.

"Let no one confuse adherence to the ruling as defeat," she declared. "The effort will now extend throughout America."

Habba's exit follows closely on a federal appellate panel ruled that she had been unlawfully serving as US attorney. This ruling is expected to impact numerous legal proceedings in the state.
